FAQ.
Our heart lies with aviation preservation – we’re interested in old aeroplanes and the people who restore, maintain, own and fly them. That core philosophy has resonated throughout our work since we launched our website in 2017.
1
When will Volume III publish?
We anticipate publishing Volume III in spring 2026.
2
What can I expect in The Vintage Aviation Echo?
Volume II features ten in-depth, highly-detailed articles covering a diverse range of subjects. These are illustrated by the highest quality photography, together with sensitively designed, period-inspired graphics and a design fidelity consistent with our ethos. A full preview can be found via the Shop section of the website.
3
What sets the Echo apart from other publications on the market?
First off - we aren't looking to compete with established magazines. They each offer something completely different to the Echo. Our publication will bring a different visual sheen to historic aviation. The whole product has the look and feel of an high end journal that looks proudly at home on a coffee table.
4
How frequently will new volumes publish?
We try to publish twice a year, but, as a small independent team who do everything in-house, we are time-limited by our day jobs and family life.
5
Does the Echo include news and airshow reviews?
No - the Echo is dedicated exclusively to historic aviation preservation. Other publications, both print and digital, cover these areas very well and we don't feel it fits with our ethos.
6
How many pages is each Volume?
Volume I clocked in at 268 pages, Volume II at 368. We anticipate Volume III wil sit somewhere between the two.
7
How much does it cost?
Volume II retails at £20, in line with other high-end premium publications.
8
Where can I buy the Echo?
The Vintage Aviation Echo is available via our new online shop, and through a limited number of stockists. We also have a regular trader presence at the Shuttleworth Collection's airshows at Old Warden, and at Duxford, where we have been found selling with the Friends of The Fighter Collection at Hangar 2. We are testing the market with a new, independently-launched product and are therefore adopting a cautious commercial approach to ensure our longevity.
9
Will the magazine be available digitally?
No. The Vintage Aviation Echo is designed to be enjoyed the way magazines were intended to be read. We want our readers to relax and embrace their desire for something tangible - to be able to sit and immerse themselves in an exquisitely designed and printed journal, free from the white noise and distractions of digital media.
10
When can I pre-order a copy of Volume III?
To avoid delays between pre-orders and distribution, we will be opening Volume III pre-orders around one month before it is ready to ship, which should be in spring 2026.
11
What happens to The Vintage Aviation Echo's website?
We were incredibly proud of the articles published digitally on our old website. Regretfully, the very cost of maintaining the server to host high-resolution photographs across over 100 legacy articles wasn't compatible with launching and sustaining the Echo as a print publication, and we have had to retire the web content.
